Lawn Mowing Auckland

Auckland lawns grow fast. We keep up.

Lawn mowing in Auckland means keeping up with kikuyu and a warm, wet spring, which can turn a tidy lawn into a paddock in a couple of weeks. Spruce mows it, trims the edges and clears the paths, on a regular round or as a one-off. Tell us your suburb and a bit about the lawn, and we'll send a price.

Regular or one-off

Mowing that keeps pace with Auckland.

Auckland's mild winters mean lawns rarely stop growing altogether. Most need a weekly or fortnightly mow from spring into autumn and something lighter through winter. Book a round that follows the season, or a one-off when you need it.

One-off mow

Before an open home or a family do, or when the lawn's simply got away on you.

  • An even cut, front and back
  • Edges trimmed back from paths
  • Drives and decks cleared
  • Clippings taken away on request
Spring to autumn

Regular mowing

Weekly or fortnightly while kikuyu and the summer grasses are growing hard, then less often through the cooler months.

  • Weekly or fortnightly in the warm months
  • Lighter visits June to August
  • The berm mowed on the same visit
  • Kikuyu kept off paths and beds

Overgrown sections

Empty rentals, new-build sections gone to seed, or a lawn nobody's touched since spring. We take it down in stages so it recovers.

  • Long grass cut back in stages
  • Runners pulled back off paths
  • Clippings raked and taken away
  • Ready for a regular round after
How we mow in Auckland

Mowing for kikuyu, clay and humidity.

Auckland lawns have their own habits. Kikuyu creeps into beds, clay stays soft long after rain and humid summers push the growth along. The way we mow takes all of that into account.

Kikuyu kept off the beds. Kikuyu spreads by runners, into gardens and across paths. The edges get cut back every visit so it doesn't creep.

Height set for the season. A little longer through a dry February, a little shorter in the spring flush, and never more than about a third of the leaf off in one go.

Clay treated gently. A lot of Auckland sits on clay that stays soft for days after rain. If a mower would rut it, we'll move the visit and tell you.

The berm as well. In Auckland the berm outside your property is yours to mow, so we can do it on the same visit.

Paths cleared, gates shut. Clippings blown off paths, drives and decks, and every gate left the way we found it.

What's included

What every Auckland mow includes.

Front, back and the berm if you want it, plus the edges and the clean-up after. If there's something else you'd like done while we're there, ask and we'll price it.

The whole lawn: front, back and the narrow strips down the side of the house, cut to an even height.
Edges: trimmed along paths, beds, fences and retaining walls.
Kikuyu runners: cut back where they've crept onto paths and into beds.
Around obstacles: trees, clotheslines, trampolines and letterboxes trimmed around.
The berm: the grass between your boundary and the road, mowed on request.
Hard surfaces: paths, drives and decks blown clear of clippings.
Clippings: left to feed the lawn, or raked up and taken away.
A final check: lawn, edges and paths looked over before we go.
Pricing

What a mow costs in Auckland.

Auckland sections run from a strip of lawn behind a townhouse to a big family section on a slope, so we price each one. Tell us about yours and we'll send a price before anything's booked.

Size

From a townhouse courtyard to a full quarter-acre, front and back.

Length

Kikuyu left for a few weeks in summer takes a lot longer than a lawn on a regular round.

Slope and access

Steep sections, banks and narrow side paths add time.

How often

Weekly or fortnightly visits keep each mow quick.

Clippings

Left on the lawn, or raked up and taken away.

The berm

Mowed on the same visit if you want it done.

FAQ

Auckland lawn mowing FAQs.

The things Aucklanders ask most about getting the lawns done.

It depends on the size of the section, how long the grass is, the slope and access, and how often we come. Tell us about it, or text a couple of photos, and we'll give you a price before anything's booked.
From spring into autumn, weekly or fortnightly. Auckland's winters are mild enough that most lawns keep growing slowly, so a mow every few weeks usually does it from June to August.
We can keep it tidy and off your paths and beds. Kikuyu spreads by runners, so the edges get cut back every visit, and a regular round stops it getting thick and spongy.
In Auckland, yes. Auckland Transport says the property owner is responsible for mowing the berm outside their property, and the council only mows it where the owner can't. We can mow it on the same visit as your lawn.
Yes, if you'd like them gone. Short clippings from a regular mow can stay on the lawn to feed it, and anything longer we'll rake up and take with us.
No. As long as we can get to the lawn, we can get on with it. Tell us about gates, dogs and gate codes when you get in touch.
Auckland's clay can stay soft for days after heavy rain. If the lawn's too wet to cut cleanly, or the mower would leave ruts, we'll move the visit and let you know.
Spruce works right across Auckland, from sloping sections on the North Shore and big lawns out west to villa lawns on the isthmus, the eastern suburbs and South Auckland. Tell us your suburb and we'll confirm the first day we can mow.
