A little about Whenuapai.
Whenuapai sits on the upper Waitematā Harbour in Auckland's northwest, around twenty kilometres from the city and just north of Hobsonville. It is best known for the air force base that has been there for generations, and for the wave of new housing now going up across the surrounding land. The homes range from new subdivisions and established family houses to lifestyle blocks on the rural roads and the waterside places out on Herald Island.
The Upper Harbour Motorway runs nearby, linking Whenuapai to Hobsonville, Westgate and across to Albany, while Brigham Creek Road carries traffic through the area. Much of the land is shifting from rural blocks to new streets, but the harbour edge and Herald Island keep their quieter feel.
