A little about Westgate.
Westgate is one of Auckland's newest town centres, around nineteen kilometres northwest of the city, where the Northwestern and Upper Harbour motorways meet. It started as a retail hub and has grown fast into a residential area, so almost all the housing is recent: terraced homes and townhouses, new subdivisions of family homes, and apartments near the shops. It is a young, growing, family-heavy part of the northwest, and the building has not stopped.
The shopping centres are the centre of gravity, with the NorthWest mall, the large-format stores and Costco all close together, and Northside Drive, Maki Street and Fred Taylor Drive running through the new neighbourhoods around them. The motorway junction keeps it well connected to the city and the rest of the west.
