Hedge Trimming NZ

Sharp hedges, no clippings left behind.

Hedge trimming is easy to put off until the hedge is blocking paths, windows and the view from the street. Spruce trims it back to shape, top and sides, and takes every clipping away. Tell us about the hedge and we'll send a price.

Trim or cut back

From a light trim to a proper cut back.

Most hedges need a trim once or twice a year to hold their shape. Some have been left long enough to need cutting back. Tell us which yours is.

Maintenance trim

For a hedge that's in shape and just needs the new growth taken off.

  • Tops and sides trimmed
  • Lines kept straight
  • Clippings cleared from beds and paths
  • Taken away when we go
Twice a year

Regular hedge care

A trim at the right points in the year, so the hedge stays dense and never gets away.

  • Timed to how the hedge grows
  • Keeps it thick at the base
  • Booked with a lawn or garden visit
  • Clippings taken away

Cut back

For a hedge that's lost its shape or grown into paths, windows or the drive.

  • Height and width brought back
  • Shaped so it recovers
  • Paths and windows cleared
  • All the green waste removed
How we trim

Straight lines, healthy hedges.

A good hedge is slightly wider at the bottom than the top, cut at the right time and cleaned up properly. That's the job.

Wider at the base. Hedges are shaped a little narrower at the top, so light reaches the bottom and it stays thick all the way down.

Cut at the right time. Most hedges are trimmed after the spring flush and again in late summer. We'll suggest the timing for yours.

Nests checked first. Birds nest in hedges in spring and early summer, so we look before we cut.

Safe heights only. We cut what we can reach safely from the ground or a ladder. If a hedge is taller than that, we'll tell you before anything's booked.

Every clipping cleared. Clippings raked out of beds, blown off paths and taken away.

FAQ

Hedge trimming FAQs.

The things people ask most about getting a hedge trimmed.

It depends on how long and how tall the hedge is, how overgrown it's got and how easy it is to get to. Tell us about it, or send a photo, and we'll give you a price before anything's booked.
Most hedges do best with a trim in late spring or early summer, after the first flush of growth, and another in late summer or early autumn. It's best to avoid a hard cut just before winter, when new growth can be hit by frost.
Once or twice a year for most hedges. Fast growers may need a third trim in a warm, wet year to keep their shape. Book it with lawn mowing or garden maintenance and it can all be done on the same visit.
Yes. Clippings are raked out of beds, blown off paths and taken away with us.
We cut hedges we can reach safely from the ground or a ladder. If yours is taller than that, we'll tell you when you get in touch, before anything's booked.
Only with their OK, since it usually means going onto their property. It's worth a quick word with them first, and then both sides can be done on the same visit.
Yes. We'll bring it back towards the size you want. Some hedges handle a hard cut well and some don't, so we'll tell you what to expect before we start.
