Lawn Mowing NZ

A tidy lawn, without giving up Saturday.

Lawn mowing is the job that never stays done. Leave it a couple of weeks in spring and it shows. Spruce mows the lawn, trims the edges and blows the paths clear, on a regular round or as a one-off. Tell us about yours and we'll come back with a price.

Regular or one-off

Mowing that follows how your lawn grows.

Most lawns need a regular mow while they're growing hard in spring and summer, and far less once growth slows. Book a round that follows the season, or a one-off mow when you need one.

One-off mow

For a lawn that's got away on you, a house going on the market, or a tidy-up before visitors arrive.

  • Mowed to an even height
  • Edges and borders trimmed
  • Paths, drives and decks blown clear
  • Clippings taken away on request
Spring & summer

Regular mowing

A weekly or fortnightly mow through the growing season, stepping back to less often when the grass slows down.

  • Weekly or fortnightly while it grows
  • Less often through winter
  • The same finish every visit
  • The berm done on the same visit

Overgrown lawns

Long grass needs more than one pass. We take it down in stages so the lawn isn't scalped, then leave it ready for regular mowing.

  • Long grass cut back in stages
  • Edges found and trimmed
  • Clippings raked and taken away
  • Ready for a regular round after
How we mow

A mow that does the lawn some good.

A good mow isn't just short grass. The height, the timing and the edges decide whether a lawn thickens up or thins out.

Height set for the season. A little longer in summer heat and dry spells, a little shorter while it's growing hard. We don't take more than about a third of the leaf off in one go, so the lawn isn't stressed.

Edges trimmed every time. Along paths, beds, fences and walls, and around the washing line and letterbox, so the finish is sharp at the edges as well as in the middle.

Hard surfaces blown clear. Clippings are blown off paths, drives and decks before we leave, so they don't get walked through the house.

Not mowed wet. Wet grass tears instead of cutting, and soft ground ruts under a mower. If the lawn's too wet, we'll move the visit and let you know.

Gates shut behind us. Tell us about dogs, gates and access when you get in touch, and we'll leave everything the way we found it.

What's included

What every mow includes.

Each visit covers the lawn, the edges and the clean-up after. Want something else done while we're there? Ask and we'll price it.

Front and back lawns: mowed to an even height, including the narrow strips down the side of the house.
Edges and borders: trimmed along paths, garden beds, fences and walls.
Around obstacles: trees, clotheslines, play equipment and letterboxes trimmed around.
Paths, drives and decks: clippings blown off every hard surface.
Clippings: left to feed the lawn, or raked up and taken away if you'd prefer.
Berms: the grass verge between your fence and the road, mowed on request.
Overgrown areas: long grass cut back in stages rather than scalped in one pass.
A look over before we go: lawn, edges and paths checked before we leave.

Common lawn jobs

Mowing for every kind of lawn.

Lawn mowing covers more than a weekly cut. Here's what it's often booked for.

Regular spring and summer mowing

A weekly or fortnightly mow while the grass is growing fastest, easing off as it slows.

Getting ready to sell

A fresh mow and sharp edges before the photos and open homes. Pairs well with a pre-sale clean.

Rentals and move-outs

A tidy lawn for the final inspection when the lawns are yours to look after. Book it with an end-of-tenancy clean.

Overgrown lawns

Long grass taken down in stages, not scalped in one pass, so it recovers.

While you're away

Mowing kept up while you travel, so you don't come home to a paddock.

When mowing gets harder

For anyone who'd rather not push a mower up a bank any more.

FAQ

The things people ask most about lawn mowing.

It depends on the size of the lawn, how long it is, the slope and access, and how often we come. Tell us about it, or send a couple of photos, and we'll give you a price before anything's booked.
While it's growing hard in spring and early summer, weekly or fortnightly. Growth slows right down over winter, so most lawns only need a mow every few weeks then, and less often again in the colder parts of the country.
Don't cut off more than about a third of the grass blade in one mow. Cutting harder than that stresses the lawn, dries the soil out and gives weeds and moss a way in. It's why an overgrown lawn gets taken down over more than one visit.
If you'd like. Short clippings from a regular mow can be left on the lawn, where they break down and feed it. Longer clippings, or any lawn you'd rather see clean, we'll rake up and take away.
No. As long as we can get to the lawn, you don't need to be there. Tell us about gates, dogs and access when you get in touch.
Light rain is fine. If the lawn's too wet to cut cleanly, we'll move the visit and let you know, because wet grass tears and soft ground ruts under a mower.
Yes. The grass verge between your fence and the road can be mowed on the same visit. Just mention it when you get in touch.
Yes. Tell us what you'd like done inside and out when you get in touch, and we'll organise the mow and the house clean together.
