A little about One Tree Hill.
One Tree Hill sits to the east and south-east of Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill, and both the maunga and Cornwall Park are inside the suburb. It began as the One Tree Hill Road District in 1863, became a borough in 1930 and was folded into Auckland City in 1989. Most of its housing dates from the 1930s on.
Cornwall Park's main gate is on Green Lane West, the road through the park runs one way out to Manukau Road, and the gates are locked outside 7am to 7pm. There's no road to the summit, only walking tracks, and Oranga School is the local primary.
