A little about Mt Roskill.
Mt Roskill sits about seven kilometres south of the city centre, bordered by Three Kings, Sandringham, Wesley, Hillsborough and Mt Albert. A large state housing development began here in 1939, with 1,085 houses by 1947 and 2,529 by 1953. In the 1950s it was known as the Bible Belt for its churches, and migrants and refugees have since changed its character.
Dominion Road runs through it, with the Mt Roskill shops where it meets Mt Albert Road, and the State Highway 20 motorway was extended through the suburb in the early 2000s.
